RsaNET's Mission statement is simple : Communication is the name of the game ! RsaNET is a network of friendly Sysops who subscribe to the the Mission Statement and who are prepared to do their bit towards the opening up of free flowing COMMUNICATION. GENERAL RULES ON RsaNET 1) Keep it clean. 2) No "flames" or personal attacks. 3) Keep to the topics of the echo. 4) Be friendly and helpful. If you can answer a plea for help then dive in and do so. 5) Moderation must be done by Moderators only. 6) High ascii is welcome. 7) Taglines are very welcome, although it would be nice to see people using different ones occasionally, as we all hate seeing the same old ones over and over. Especially that tagline - "So long and thanks for the fish !" It must be noted however that multiple taglines are NOT allowed. An RsaNET message should have one tear line (the three ---'s), One tagline (optional) and an origin line. 8) Please try to keep quoting of original messages to a minimum, and try to keep your "signatures" from being too long and fancy. Fancy signatures are great to see from time to time but people get tired very quickly of seeing fancy signatures and same old taglines. 9) No private messages are allowed other than in RsaMAIL. 10) No ANSI mail may be left in any area other than those designated specifically for it. The only conferences that allow coloured ansi are RsaFUN and RsaBBS (when in the form of a BBS advert.) 10) No activity that violates any Laws of the country. 11) No activity that in any way advocates software piracy. 12) Discussions of any other BBS Networks is allowed as well as partial quoting of messages. However out and out bashing of any networks and or People and or Software is NOT ! RsaNET is NOT a democracy but rather a friendly club run by the participating Hubs and Nodes. In the unlikely event of an unresolved argument on policy or any other matter relating to RsaNET the final decision will be made by Rob Fisher. All participating Sysops are encouraged to take part in the formulation of polices by partaking in discussions in the RsaNET echo. (The echo for RsaNET Sysops only.) RsaNET users are also very welcome to add their piece to the formulation of policies ! (Two in Durban, one in JHB and one in P.E.) THE ORIGINAL BBS's OF RsaNET were SOFTEL (National hub), Starlight BBS, NetLINE Flagship BBs (Transvaal HUB) and PE Technikon BBS STANDARDS WITHIN RsaNET: Transmission of the RsaNET Network is via QWK or FTN mail packets. RsaNET Origin tagline must be in the following format : þ Tosser 3.0 þ RsaNET þ BBS Name þ Town þ Phone Number [QWK nodes] Origin: þ RsaNET þ BBS Name þ Town þ (node number) [FTN nodes] Any RsaNET BBS should also display the RsaNET LOGO either as a bulletin or preferably as part of the logon sequence. THE RsaNET HIERARCHY RsaADMIN: Rob Fisher, Roger Crossley, Ina Sonnenmoser, Ian Gerada, Greg Murrell, Nico Visagie, Alan Bevis, Graeme Slogrove. Graeme Slogrove The Lair David Herselman Quantum BBS Tiaan van Aardt A la Carte Kevin Edward Pearce JOINING RsaNET While it is a private amateur network, RsaNET is open to any SysOp who agrees to follow the RsaNET Policy and is serious about the free flow of communication. In order to become an RsaNET member, the SysOp must first obtain the RsaNET application form from any of the Hubs. The file should be named RsaAPP.ZIP. WHERE TO UPLOAD YOUR APPLICATION Should you decide to join RsaNET, please upload your application form to any of the RsaNET hubs in the form of a message. It can also be sent via email to rsanet@fc.co.za. THERE ARE A FEW REQUIREMENTS Any RsaNET Sysop must be ACTIVE and be prepared to motivate his users to partake in the RsaNET echoes. This point is absolutely critical! Think not what can RsaNET do for me (and it can do a lot), think more like what can I do for RsaNET ? A Sysop will be responsible for his users. This means that a Sysop will be responsible for restricting the access of certain individuals from certain conferences as instructed by RsaADMIN on advice from a Moderator or Sysop complaint. RESTRICTED CONFERENCES There are several conferences that are restricted to certain positions within RsaNET. The RsaNET conference MUST be restricted to sysop's and conference moderators only. It may not be read or seen by anyone who is not an RsaNET sysop or moderator. RsaADMIN is restricted to members of the ADMIN team, and to the RsaNET HUBS. RsaMAIL must be restricted to PRIVATE messages only. IF YOU ARE GOING OFF-LINE If your node will be off-line for longer than two days, inform your Hub as soon as possible. If you will be leaving your system unattended for an extended period of time (such as while you are on holiday), you should notify your HUB. TERMINATION of RsaNET status. Apart from the obvious, a BBS's RsaNET status will be terminated if a node is found to be continually problematic and inactive. RsaNET is a free flowing communication medium for the active BBS's and their users. Daily Mail runs to a Hub are imperative! If a Node is consistently erratic with mail runs his feed may be cut. HAVE FUN ! Above all have fun and enjoy ! We are all in this for enjoyment !
